Chapter 6
So we are more than half way through Lost At School.
Some things to consider:
If you have done an ALSUP and/or Plan B, what went well and where are you stuck?
If you have not done an ALSUP and/or Plan B, what obstacles are you facing?
Schools, even if they operate with Positive Behavior Interventions and Support, rely on Plan A to deal with challenging behavior. If you think Collaborative and Proactive Solutions is a better way, what are your ideas about how schools can transition from Plan A to CPS and Plan B?

Chapter 3
View the ALSUP (Assessment of Lagging Skills and Unsolved Problems) on www.livesinthebalance.org. Pay close attention to pages 71-73, as there are several examples of unsolved problems. It is KEY to be specific about what the unsolved problem is.
With all of the demands throughout the day, it is hard to find the time to meet with students. Keep in mind however, when you are being proactive in trying to solve problem behaviors, you will spend less time in the long run dealing with those challenges throughout the day!
What are some times you are thinking you could carve out during the day each week to attempt to solve problems proactively? How does this relate to building relationships with your students?

Looking forward to the upcoming book study.
I'm looking forward to our upcoming book study! Besides the book "Lost At School", Ross Greene's non-profit Lives in the Balance has a website with tons of resources - www.livesinthebalance.org
I first heard Ross Greene speak at the Michigan Association of School Social Workers Conference about 7 years ago. I immediately ordered "Lost at School" and read it. I have heard him several times since and have also done some training with him. I was able to attend his 5th Annual Summit on Non-Adversarial and Non-Punitive Interventions for Kids in Portland, Maine last October. I am looking forward to sharing some experiences using Collaborative and Proactive Solutions with some of my students.
